The PEA process is a screening-level risk assessment approach conducted under the regulatory oversight of the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) of the California EPA. The approach involves a Phase I ESA, collection of samples on the impacted site under a DTSC-approved Work Plan, calculation of health risks and determination of site risk. Site Closure or Remediation then follows. Harris & Lee Environmental Sciences is experienced in the PEA process and working with the DTSC. In particular, we have conducted PEAs for the Schools Site division of the DTSC and have worked with various school districts to obtain environmental clearance prior to school site acquisition or redevelopment.
